The Island Luau - Rotary Otumoetai hosted the Annual Fundraising Event "Island Luau" on October 31st 2020, Due to Covid-19 Alert Levels, the event was postponed from March 202o to October 2020, the venue was the newly re-furbished Mount Maunganui Surf Lifesaving Club, the event was colorful with auction prizes, raffles, great food and entertainment. A very successful event where proceeds went to Rotary Outmoetai's International project, the Cambodian Charitable Trust Teachers Training Program. Well done to all the members for participating and making this event a successful one.
Guest Speaker - Robert Brodnax, Monday, November 16th 2020

Robert has 25 years of experience working at the interface between central and local government on issues involving natural and physical resource allocation, infrastructure planning and investment and stakeholder engagement and sustainable development. 

As a senior executive for both NZ Transport Agency and the Waikato Regional Council he has provided executive leadership for a number of major programmes of work including development and implementation of the National Land Transport Programme, spatial planning processes such as Smartgrowth in the Bay of Plenty or Futureproof in Hamilton, central government policy review projects such as the Vehicle Licensing Reforms and capital project delivery for large projects such as NZ Transport Agency’s Weigh Right Programme.  Robert is an expert in building and leading collaborative processes involving multiple partners.

From 2019 to June 2020 he was the Independent Project Director for the Western Bay of Plenty’s Urban Form and Transport Initiative – a collaborative spatial planning exercise involving local authorities, iwi and government agencies that developed a 50-100 year urban form and transport programme to guide planning and investment in the Western Bay of Plenty.

In his presentation he will reflect on emerging trends and drivers in terms of spatial planning and transport infrastructure investment and how well the Western Bay of Plenty is placed to respond to these trends.

Another Successful Project - Sausage Sizzle Fundraiser held at Fresh Choice in Omokoroa held in October 2020, Many thanks to Fresh Choice for the supplies.
Assistant Governors Trophy - Currently held by the Rotary Club of Otumoetai, Rotary clubs in Tauranga can set up a club event to challenge for this trophy, the aim to connect the clubs together through a team event whilst sharing ideas about community ideas.  Past events have been Ten-Pin Bowling and Quiz Night.
